As the 2025-2026 school year kicks off, Arts4Hearts enters Haven’s network of clubs.
Led by advisor Mrs. Kelly Minguez and junior club presidents Cecilia Lindsay, Lea Soeiro, Sophie Grossman, and Missy Rich, the club held their first interest meeting in Room 404 on Friday, October 3.
“There wasn’t as many people as we would like as we would have liked to be there, but that’s partially because we weren’t at the Activities Fair,” Grossman said. “Our main goal right now is getting more people to know about the club and join.”
The interest meeting highlighted the fundamentals of the club and organization that it is under.
“The organization is basically donating bracelets or art kits to people who are in not great situations, or could use a little positive energy,” Soeiro said.
The club plans to move forward with their official meeting on November 3. They are planning a bracelet-making event to donate to The Access Center in Chester, a location that offers social and educational activities, as well as essential resources to the Chester community.
“It’s a community center, and people come who can’t buy their own food or make their own meals,” Grossman said. “There are different programs that they do that involve giving them [bracelets] and they’ll distribute them.”
Club presidents encourage students to join and use the opportunity to get involved as well as have fun.
“It’s a really easy way that you can give back to the community, and it’s still fun to do,” Soeiro said. “Especially making bracelets, it’s so simple.”
The club offers involvement opportunities to all students, even those who cannot make it to all meetings.
“You can also do it at home. I’ve made so many bracelets at home already,” Lindsay said. “It’s something so easy you can do, and to give back to your community. It’s literally just to make bracelets, give them to us, and we’ll take care of the rest.”
Not only does the club provide an easy way to help your community, but there are also more benefits to being involved.
“It’s a great way to get community service hours for NHS or anything else that you might need them for,” Rich said. “It’s also a really nice way to see impact in your community, and it’s really fun.”
The next meeting is fifth block on November 3 in room 404. Attendance is encouraged, not only to gain service hours, but also so students can get a better glimpse of Arts4Hearts mission and how they plan to impact the community.
“I think the best thing is to come to at least one meeting and just see what it’s about,” Lindsay said.
