Sophomore Conrad Nuschke talks about his two dogs in this edition of Critter Corner.
What are the names of your dogs?
Athena and Apollo.
Why did you name them this?
Not really sure. They kind of fit the dog’s personalities. And they’re just cool names.
How do they fit the dog’s personalities?
Athena, she’s the smart one. I’ll say that she’s always finding clever ways to trick Apollo, my parents as well. And then Apollo, he’s a ray of sunshine.
When and how did you get them?
[We] got Athena back in June of 2019, she was at this animal shelter called the LaMancha. She was the last of her litter, and she just kind of called to us. And then Apollo, he came up from Arkansas somewhere, from a dog breeder. We pre-ordered him.
What do you like to do with your dogs?
I play with them and take them on walks. I also pet them, because that’s kind of half of the dog experience.
How would you describe your relationship with your dogs?
Good, happy, healthy, they’re great.
Can you tell me an interesting story about your dogs?
One time, for roughly 12 hours, the two of them just went on a little bear hunt, and they just ran away. [We] had no idea where they were, and we ended up finding them around Swarthmore College, which is like a few miles away from our house. How did they get that far? I don’t know. They’re just adventurers, naturally.
