After their April 6 victory over Radnor, varsity baseball players run to the outfield to celebrate their win and listen to Coach Brian Fili’s feedback on the game.

Strath Haven Varsity Baseball beat Radnor 3-0 after juniors Matt Caputo and Ben Milligan hit RBI singles in the bottom of the 4th and 5th innings. The baseball team now stands at a 6-0 overall record.

Many errors from Radnor caused Haven to get their three runs. The Panthers were able to get on base multiple times and had the bases loaded twice. Haven brought a lot of energy to the game.

“We knew it was going to be a grind and it was super tight game through four innings to get that first hit. I also let out this big yell,” Caputo said.

The weather conditions were not ideal, but the Panthers played through it.

“It was cold. It was windy. But, we got the job done. That’s all you can ask for,” senior and catcher Matt Kane said.

Caputo, who played as a second baseman, hasn’t been able to get many opportunities like the RBIs this year.

“[It’s] super cool to do something with it,” he said.

Caden Shuster, junior and pitcher, pitched well, letting no runs from the first to the fourth innings and four strikeouts. The offense was able to back him up.

“One guy got out, the next guy picked him up and did what he had to do. We all got the job done,” Kane said.

Strath Haven will take on Springfield at home on Monday, April 8, at 3:45 pm and Penncrest at home on Wednesday, April 10, at 3:45 pm.
