From cultures in India to Poland, Japan, and China, students showcased the diversity of their cultures with performances to an audience of their peers on Friday, April 25.
The in-school assembly included singing performances, dances, and a fashion show. It followed two days after International Night on Wednesday, April 23, in which the students performed for their families and community members and celebrated with food.
Seniors Olivia Heisey-Terrell and Snehal Pandey organized and planned various performances, with English teacher Mr. Robert Zakrewski and world languages teacher Ms. Pamela Kaneda helping to oversee the assembly’s execution to the stage.
“We had an interest meeting, but I also know me and Snehal, we reached out to some individuals who participated last year, and they were really excited to come back again this year,” Heisey-Terrell said.
Months of coordination and rehearsing has brought many of the performers together, as they celebrate and spotlight the beauty in their cultures.
“I think the experience of rehearsing it with everyone was really fun and just the people I was surrounded with made it feel a lot less scary, so it was overall a good experience,” freshman performer Emma Remmes said.
