Experience French Culture on the Québec Trip

Students enrolled in a French course during the 2018-19 school year will now have the opportunity to travel to Québec over President’s day weekend. This trip is open to all grades, and everyone with an interest in visiting this unique city is encouraged to attend. It is a great way to experience a new culture and practice your conversational French outside of a classroom setting. Similar to the one offered at the middle school, this trip offers another way to enjoy Québec, this time during the winter rather than the summer. Madame Stadnicki expressed her excitement for the trip, explaining how she is “looking forward to enjoying the winter carnival and Québec,” and how it is a great opportunity “for students that didn’t get a chance to go during middle school or for those that want to experience it again.” Senior Abby Loiselle explains how she is excited to go because she “feels like it’ll be a great way to enjoy [her] last year of French.” Fellow classmates Ellen McCullough and Sophie Haase feel similarly, mentioning how they didn’t go in middle school and feel like they missed out, but are excited for another chance to visit. Sophie adds how she will be able to achieve her “lifelong dream to go dog sledding.” From February 14th-18th, students will experience Québec’s winter carnival, and have the opportunity to participate in an array of activities including old favorites such as visiting a maple syrup sugar shack (cabane à sucre) to experience a traditional Canadian meal, touring Old Québec, eating crepes bretonnes, and visiting Montmorency Falls- the tallest waterfall in Quebec. In addition to this, many new winter activities will also be offered, like sled dog racing, tobogganing, snow tubing, ice skating, and a tour of the Hôtel de Glace de Québec- a hotel made completely of ice and snow. The deadline to sign up for the trip has been extended, so contact Madame Stadniki as soon as possible if interested — the more people who sign up, the cheaper it will be!
