Panthers varsity boys lacrosse lost 14-8 to the Aces in an exciting lacrosse match on Tuesday, May 7.
On offense, junior Joe Orye, who contributed three goals and one assist, led the team and put in an impressive and valiant effort.
“We had a lot of hustle,” Orye said. “We just didn’t execute on many of the small things that led to us losing.”
Senior Marco Kaufman also helped lead the attack by setting up plays driving hard to the goal and scoring twice, and senior Gabe Broome also had a great game overall where he created many chances and scored three goals and assisted once.
On the defensive side, sophomore Robbie Valcich showed a lot of aggression on the field taking and giving some big hits on their attack and midfield, where he also helped stop Lower Merion’s attack. Sophomore Evan Tevlin put in an impressive shift in goal where he saved seven powerful shots from the Lower Merion attack, along with senior Matt Jackson who had four saves.
The team made a few mistakes, such as missed catches and passes, and some minor errors that contributed to the team’s loss.
Senior Owen Jamieson, who was injured, thought the team had the energy but didn’t get the outcome they expected.
“We just spent a little bit too much time in the box, went down a little bit too much too early,” Jamieson said.
Varsity boys lacrosse is gearing up for their next game away against Pope John Paul II on May 10 at 3:45 PM.
