On a sunny day, the Panthers varsity golf team was ready for their third game of the season, standing at a record of 1-1-1.
The Panthers teed off in a home match against Harriton at Springhaven Country Club on Thursday, August 28.
“My individual performance was not great, but I worked pretty hard for it. Luca [Kleinschmidt] played pretty hard,” senior Eddie Gebhardt said.
Senior Luca Kleinschmidt posted 36, leading the team. His journey up to senior year has changed his perspective on sports.
“Having that perspective of the access to a golf course like this has helped me a lot…I was lucky to be brought up on some teams that have had some good players I’ve learned a lot from,” he said.
Both Kleinschmidt and Gebhardt performed at tournaments in the offseason and often led their team. Gebhardt put up a round of 39 in this match.
Haven has faltered to Harriton in the past, so this match was important to the players. The Panthers’ performance was a big step in the right direction for the team.
“It’s about staying consistent, staying steady and staying level when you’re playing,” Gebhardt said.
Freshman Henri Sitton also contributed a round of 37, leading the team next to Kleinschmidt and Gebhardt.
The team looks forward to their next match against Upper Darby on Thursday, September 4.
