The varsity boys basketball team hosted a game against Ridley on Thursday, Jan. 19, winning 52-20 in a playoff-sealing statement game. Coming off a huge win against 12-1 Chester Charter School on Tuesday, Jan. 17, the Panthers rode their momentum into a blowout win for the home crowd.
The Panthers came out to an early lead of 18-0 led by senior captain Jack Edwards’ three triples in the first five minutes of the game. By halftime, the lead grew to 31-10 as the Panthers continued to rain three-pointers.
“I play my game and let the game come to me,” Edwards said. “I still want to give all the credit to my teammates who hit me on my open spots and knew I was off to a hot start after the first three I hit.”
The varsity boys had a rough start, but their hot streak has brought them back to .500 on the season.
“It’s all about moving forward at this point,” assistant coach Mr. Kevin Haney said. “We can take the opportunity to celebrate this win but we still have a lot of work to do.”
The Panthers will look to move to 9-8 in their away game against Garnet Valley on Tuesday, January 24.
