From stands full of spirited students in their HOCO shirts to brightly decorated senior pants and the Panther mascot hyping up the crowd, Haven’s fall 2023 pep rally was a success of fun and energy for many students.
In the high school gym, the entire school gathered together to celebrate school culture and the upcoming Homecoming game and dance with activities like dodgeball, a “rollercoaster ride,” and the senior girls’ and boys’ captain dances.
“It was fun being with the guys,” senior Jake Kitchin said, regarding the boys’ dance. “Rehearsing with them was also funny because it was a TikTok dance, so it was really fun to see everyone laughing and enjoying it.”
Behind the scenes, all of the hype activities were coordinated by the Student Council officers and presidents for several weeks leading up to the event in order to ensure it all went smoothly.
“It was definitely stressful at first, but now that we got it all done, it feels really good, and we had a lot of fun doing it,” senior Student Council president Lola Babin said. “It was very rewarding after all of our hard work, and I’m really happy.”
For over 300 members of the senior class, this was their last high school Haven pep rally. For many, including senior Lindsay Spinosa, it was a bittersweet and sentimental event to remember.
“I’m going to miss how the whole environment of it and how it’s set up and everything like that,” she said. “I’m going to miss that school culture when I go to college.”
The Homecoming Dance takes place on Saturday, October 14, from 7-9:30 pm. Students will enter through the trailers to enjoy the event. Babin has some advice for all students attending the dance.
“Definitely go all out for the dance tomorrow,” she said. “Just have fun with your friends and dance!”
