The varsity girls lacrosse team defeated the Pottsgrove Falcons by an overwhelming score of 20-5 on Tuesday, May 20, at George L. King Field.
Coming into the game, the #1-seeded Panthers looked to get a playoff streak going after their 21-4 victory over Interboro.
The game kicked off to a great start for the Panthers. The first quarter ended 9-0 for Haven.
“I think we did really well in our transition,” senior captain Annie Dignazio said. “Our spirits were up, and after having a long weekend, we didn’t have practice on Friday. It was good, just getting the ball around and in everybody’s six. And I think we just brought the energy.”
At the half, the Falcons managed to score two goals, but were unable to prevent two goals on the other side of the field. The first half ended 11-2 for the Panthers.
The game ended 20-5 for the Panthers. This means that they will move on to the PIAA District 1 Semifinal match.
“I’m so excited,” senior captain Kate Fox said. “I don’t think I’ve ever really gone this far at any high school sport, except for freshman year, but I wasn’t playing then, so making it this far this year, I’m so excited, and I really can’t wait, and I know we can keep going.”
The Panthers will host the #4-seeded Mount Saint Joseph Magic at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, at George L. King Field in the PIAA District 1 Semifinal match. The Panthers defeated the Magic on March 28 with a 13-9 scoreline.
“I am looking forward to playing Mount [Saint Joseph] again, because we already faced them, and I’m excited to just play them again with our evolved team, and we’ve gotten so much better over the season. So, I can’t wait to play another good competition game where it’ll be close,” Dignazio said.
