Community events, pep rallies, dances, senior nights, performances, special events, championships, traditions, moments of tragedy, and hope were just a few of the hundreds of Haven stories captured through the lens of our cameras. Every image made is a reflection of Haven, preserving the memories that made this year uniquely 2024.

 

UNITY AND INSPIRATION • Award-winning principal, and teacher Dr. Salome Thomas-El delivers his speech to the Haven community in the Strath Haven Middle School Auditorium as part of the Martin Luther King Day district celebration on January 15. (Matthew Ramirez ’26)

 

A CAUTIONARY TALE • Julia McLean ’24 sings “World Burn” and throws paper into the air during the Mean Girls rehearsal on Thursday, February 22. McLean portrayed Regina George, who photocopied pages of her burn book as part of a revenge scheme. (Charlotte Horetsky)

ASTRONOMICAL PHENOMENON • Haven students and staff view the solar eclipse through specialized glasses on April 8. The eclipse ‘watch party,’ hosted by admin, began at 2:15 p.m., with peak coverage of the sun at 3:23 p.m. and ran until the eclipse had completed. (Matthew Ramirez ’26)

 

SPREADING PAWS-ITIVITY • Wyatt Stevens ’27 smiles on the tennis courts as two puppies lick his face during the “Puppy Yoga” visit of Friday, April 12. Throughout the year, the visits from TLC Rescue PA puppies, organized by counselor Mrs. Jennifer Salvage, brought energetic and playful energy to students, staff, and faculty during 5th blocks. ANTICIPATION • Lily Hodges ’25 holds up the speaker for a spirit circle for Amherst Invitational, hosted at the University of Massachusetts, on May 4-5. SHUG revised the song “Shots” by LMFAO to replace the word ‘shots’ with “SHUG,” and the team sang it as an enthusiastic hype song before nearly every match. SHUG were the 2024 PA State Champions and ranked 14th in the U.S. (Katie Stack)

 

SILVERTOINES GO RED • The Strath Haven Silvertones sing “The Star Spangled Banner” prior to the Phillies baseball game on the field of Citizen Bank Park on Sunday, May 5. (Matthew Ramirez ’26)

 

EXHIBIT • Charlie Detweiler ‘25 frames his hands as he explains the inspiration behind his work on Tuesday, May 21 at the Community Arts Center. During ‘The Art of WSSD’ biennial K-12 art show, Detweiler presented a solo exhibit of his paintings created during his George H. Slick Fellowship. Detweiler finally got to display his paintings to the community. (Michelle Ding)

REMEMBRANCE • Francesca Clark ’24 holds a portrait of OFTyreece Charlow as she walks through Nether Providence Elementary School during senior grad walks on Thursday, June 6. Charlow was a student at NPE and part of the graduating Class of 2024 before his death in 2012. (Veronica King)

TURNING THE FLYWHEEL • Strath Haven Marching Band receives feedback from judges at the Penncrest Festival of Bands on September 28. The band sat all together while they listened closely to what the judges had to say. (Matthew Ramirez ’26)

 

UNIFIED HARMONIES • Soprano Cantata members sing during the Feast of St. Francis mass in the Cathedral of St. John Divine on Sunday, October 6. The choir was a combination of various singers which included Strath Haven Cantata, The Cathedral Choristers, choirs from Villanova University, surrounding schools, and people who wanted to be part of the mass. DEMONSTRATING HEART • Eli Price 26 fist bumps preschooler Jayde in his full gear. During the Safety Squad preschool presentation on October 17, The firefighters tried to emphasize that despite Price wearing the daunting-looking gear, his main job is to protect people from fires while also protecting himself. INCLUSIVITY • Lara Bruno ’25 throws her hands up in excitement as she is called through the spirit line of her cheerleader teammates prior to the Strath Haven Unified Basketball game against Marple Newtown on November 12. (Evelynn Lin ’25)

 

THE CHAMPIONS • The girls’ soccer team celebrates their PIAA 3A state championship victory with the trophy at Eagle View Middle School on November 15. The team secured the title with a 1-0 win against Lower Dauphin, thanks to a goal by Ava Hurwitz ’27. (Matteo Ventresca ’25)

 

THE CATCH • Oliver Gwinn ’26 catches the ball as Carter Shinners ’26 dives in an attempt to block Andrew Moody ’28 during the Turkey Bowl on Tuesday, November 26. In the class versus class football style game, the freshman team and junior team battled in the first round of the Turkey Bowl in which the juniors rose victorious. (Evie Fernandez ’27)

 

DISSECTING FLAVORS • Sage Baker ’25 and Sydney Williams ’25 critique the many Bûche deNoëls during the holiday-themed contest on Monday, December 16. The pastry made by Lily Hodges ’25 was voted upon and declared the winner of the annual French Club tradition. (Roxanna Shelton)
